Dwarkesh Podcast interview with geneticist David Reich
Many of my readers and subscribers are interested in ancient DNA and human genetics, so I must recommend this new interview with Harvard geneticist David Reich:
David Reich – How One Small Tribe Conquered the World 70,000 Years Ago (youtube.com)
He talks about many of the major discoveries and findings over the past ten years and how the revolution of ancient DNA analysis has impacted on archaeology - including Neanderthals, the Yamnaya, Corded Ware and Bell Beakers, the Denisovans, early human expansion, Oceania, plague in Neolithic Europe and more. Reich’s name will go down in the history books as someone who pioneered an entirely new paradigm in the sciences, and it may well be that traditional archaeology and archaeo-genetics bifurcate away from one another over the next few decades, who knows?
Bookmarked for the commute—looking forward to this one!
Thanks very much.
